A Brief-ish Overview

Hey, everyone! Just thought it would be fun to look at some responses and feedback! Let's begin!

Hmm...

I see...

Well... ain't that a bitch.

Introspection and Next Steps

Long story short, this less-than-stellar reception has sort of made Irrelevant and I take a step back and do some introspection (wack and copey as that sounds), and we've come to the conclusion that maaaaaaybe we didn't put our best foot forward with this one.

The Plan Moving Forward

SO! Here's what me and my bruised writefagfriend (don't nuke me, itch.io) ego are thinking:

  • We're gonna do a little reprioritizing.
  • Our new first priority will be to get a patch done for what’s already released.
  • We’ll be continuing to look at feedback for the next week and then fixing whatever needs fixing.
  • THEN, we’re gonna get Episode One of Season 2 released for y'all by Valentine's Day (Yes, Valentine's Day this year. Don't be a [REDACTED]).

Perfecto every time!

QnA Updates

Also, while I'm here, I wanted to let y'all know that we will be posting all the Cast / Homeschool Studios QnA stuff on Twitter next Saturday. We'll also be adding the cast part of it to the RECORDING SECTION WE ADDED THAT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN GLOSSED OVER.

Closing Thoughts

So yeah, let’s get things rolling. Sound good? Sounds good.

Till next time!

I wanna say that I love this game and I'm happy you saw the reaction and reacted positively. Just remember that people just love it so much that they desperately wanted more.

I hope this is at least a little consolation when I say I actually love the little changes you made. It shows how much you love the project if you considered the older stuff you made at all. Your season one is amazing and I can't wait for anything new~!

Honestly, on one hand it sucks that the reception of the newest update was such a downer on you guys.

On the other hand, I can understand the pain of the people - since the beginning, every single time you guys made a big update, the result was a lot of great, high quality content.

Not only that, but I noticed that there was a miscommunication issue here - even though you guys have said that this update was about 'polishing the episode one', nobody knew what that entails and how much of a new content there will be.

So if we combine these two things with the fact that people had waited a LONG time, I think it is understandable that some people are pewed.

In a way, you guys had dug your own graves - you've set the expectation of the people so high that only a LARGE content update would fully satisfy the naysayers. (I am not attacking you here, it's just how I see it.)

Honestly, the only thing that I think about that would prevent another 'blowout' like that in the future, would be to be much more transparent with the amount of new content new updates bring. If people knew how little new content the last update brought in advance, then the amount of the displeasure would've been much lower.

I hope that the communication issues with the fanbase will be resolved in the future and new update will be celebrated by the all.

I loved the update it was funny and good I saw the call between NUMBuh 202 and NUMBuh 78 it was mind blowing and the call between NUMBuh 62 and NUMBuh 83 was very good made the update is good I can't complain about it but the call between NUMBuh 202 and NUMBuh 78 after sector G got the files of sector X wasn't change it's kinda made me feel down but it's okay thanks for everything I love this game and it's important for me God bless you all and I will be waiting for your next updates and the release of canterlot exchange take your time

These kinds of things take a lot of time and energy to get done so please take the time you need putting out a good game, thank you.

(+3)(-1)

I'm pretty used to the "It's done when it's done" thinking for the updates in the game so I am fine with the update no matter how small it is.

I just hope you guys don't burn yourselves out trying to add the updates for the game.

Good luck and take care.

Hello Homeschool Studio!
I finally got around to playing the new update once I was done with travel. I'm always happy to play these when they come out as the writing, art, and all around vibes of the game is great!
While I can't say I not a little disappointed with the amount of content I am still happy with a lot of what you've all made for us. When the only complaint I and others have is that there isn't enough of you awesome work I think that is a great problem to have.
Do not be disheartened about this update (The picture breaks my heart a little) We all love the work you put in, and I'm sure you all now that we'd all be happy to help in any way we could, as it is a truly wonderful project. We look forward to your next update and new project!!

Since this is a free to download game, I do not feel like I have the right to complain. But I do understand and share the disappointment over the lack of new content. I hope the team does not see this as criticism, but as a product of the quality of what was released before.

I might skip this update as I do not know if it is worth replaying the storyline so far. But I do look forward to the next chapter. Thanks for what you managed to release already. Just promise me this will never become a Duke Nukem Forever. That would break my heart.

(+10)

Ain't tried the update yet, a shame it sounds like it was a less stellar update. However, I am happy the dev team is taking the criticism on the chin. Y'all seeing this as a sign to improve and taking the big steps to do that is great to see

Needs more goths

(+9)

Unimaginably based. We truly do appreciate the care and thought you fellas put into the game and especially into the community... even if a vocal minority of them can get negative. Glad you all took it with stride.

(+4)

thanks and I'm sorry for being blunt when it come to criticism i try to be as strait forward as possible

(+14)

I was pretty disappointed with the update but the moment I thought about it I reminded myself that y’all are a small team working on a free passion project. I’m glad that y’all were able to hear past the grumbling to the sentiment behind it and I hope y’all don’t take that grumbling to heart. The only reason anyone is disappointed is because we like the game so much that we REALLY REALLY want more. It really reflects well on y’all, in my view, that y’all’re willing to step up and do y’all’s best to take the criticism and improve. Just… don’t go too crazy, alright? I don’t think even the grumblers want you to overwork yourselves to try to make up for anything.

(+8)

This is a very well done response to the criticism. I was worried that all the negativity would discourage you guys, but it seems to have done the opposite. Just keep on keeping on and we'll all be pleased as punch. Don't let the criticism ruin your passions!

(+4)

I enjoyed this update any content is good content but I just felt like the end of episode 3 wasn’t a good stoping point

(1 edit) (+10)

As happy as I am to hear that season 2's opening is coming out soon, don't let all the negative nancies get to you. This is a free game, and I'm sure the reason you do that is because once you get paid for something, it becomes a job, and jobs suck. I would much rather have a longer release schedule with this level of excellence because you love your hobby; than have quicker releases with worse content because now you hate your obligatory job. Don't let the haters get to you.

P.S. If you want to know how a majority feel, just look at the downvote vs upvote numbers on the negative posts.

(+4)

Loving the work you do it feels like I'm seeing knd again and get to enjoy the jokes again. Kinda want to rewatch the show now.

(+1)(-6)

Question.  Why’d you have to truncate chapters 1-3 into a single chapter?  It was fine as it is.  Furthermore calling the 2nd Chapter X vs. G 2 no longer makes sense since you don’t have an X vs. G 1 anymore.

(+8)(-1)

I'd bet the uproar was mostly do to people only playing the [ERROR] end to chapter one, while expecting it to be the same size as all the other episodes, and not knowing about the new work done on said old episodes. Like, I'll admit that with the change in plans for where to end chapter one, I kind of lost track of exactly what was going to be in this update along the way as well, and was a bit confused until I went back to reread a few of the previous development logs, then I remembered what was up.

Anyway, I did highly enjoy what was added, and am very much looking forward to the start of Season 2 as well as Canterlot Exchange's first release!

(+4)

See you guys next year lol

But seriously, thanks for keeping us posted at least. We all eagerly await what comes next. I'm sure we all don't mind waiting as long as it's worth the wait. However, let's all hope that it doesn't resort to becoming a HL3 pipedream lmao
