A (12 days after) Valentines Day Devlog!


Alright. Here we go! Another month, another devlog! We’ve gotten a good bit done since the last one and I figure now’s as good a time as any to let y’all know what’s been up the past month. So, as always, let’s start things off with a little general overview of what everyone’s been working on.

Here we go!

Art

While I continue working on the script, Soul has been knocking out some character assets (Numbuh 362, Mushi, Sonia, and Numbuh 513) for future use, since N.O.V.E.L. will be doing a little bit of expanding throughout the next several updates.

Plus, it lets us touch up on a few additional little nuggets throughout the already existing game, which is fun.

Music

Not tooooo much to say in regard to music this month. Rodrick finished the track he was working on and we’re just waiting a minute before we get some more stuff going.

Writing

Hmm… well, like I said up above in the art section, I’m more or less just whittling away at the new episode’s script and getting some entries together for the archive. I’ve gotten a big chunk of the script done now and things are going smoothly and at a fairly steady pace. I’ve also been messing around with some stuff for the future. Ya know, character dynamics, scenarios, all that. Which has been a lot of fun so far.

The Word of Deus Mechani—Programming!

The geeky technical side of operations is going nice and smooth as always. Irrelevant has been putting work into making things more interactive here and there and is looking forward to seeing what y’all think. He also fully encourages everyone to let us know in the comments if you run (or have ran) into any bugs or issues with the game’s function.

Now that we’re through with the general overview, let’s take a second to go over a few other little things.

Episode status: Rupert’s Rampage

Art and music-wise, this episode is pretty much handled. All that’s really left is for me to finish the writing. Once that’s done, I’ll pass it to Irrelevant so he can do his thing, then we’ll review everything and hand it over to the testers. After that, we’ll review everything again, fix whatever needs fixed, adjust whatever needs adjusted, and reconfuckulate whatever needs reconfuckulated, then back to the testers it goes for a second opinion. And if everything is good after that, BOOM. Finished.

Timelines, schedules, yadda yadda

With Rupert’s Rampage being where it’s at in development, we thought it would be good to fill y’all in on what we’re looking at as far as timelines/scheduling goes:

  • First, we’re gonna get Rupert’s Rampage knocked out and get it released for y’all.

  • Then we’re gonna take a minute to get Canterlot Exchange’s demo out before continuing work on NOVEL.
  • And after that, we’ll be back to work on NOVEL with Weekend at X and then the final episode of Act 1: 86’d.


So… yeah! On to the next matter!

Updated character profiles

We’re in the process of getting updated character profiles on the itch.io page. The updated profiles will have some little adjustments in the text portions, and display the characters’ actual models instead of their models from the concept art.




Questions from the comments: Will there be a Spanish translation?

Afraid not, boss. There are no plans for an official Spanish translation of the game.

Has the game been updated? It says the last update was frm 2022.

If I am not mistaken, I think you guys mentioned previously that you were planning on releasing the last three chapters as a "giant update", but here it appears that Rupert's one will be launched separately. Is that so?

By the way, marvelous progress as I see, I cannot wait to see 362 in the game.

Nice devlog gang, new content shown off looks great. With the amount of new quality stuff to see over the last few months it looks like you guys are getting in a good groove for everything. Probably in part due to not having to manage the discord anymore lmao. I still miss that place but a purge was probably for the best lol.
